I've recently been playing Tony Hawks Pro Skateboarding, and have found that it is a very fun game. You pick 1 of 9 pro skaters to race through different settings such as Minneapolis or you can go to a skate park such as portland "Burnside". The skateparks are like skating competitions in which you have 3 runs and are judged out of 100 points for each run. Your two best runs are taken and if you finish in the top 3, you are rewarded a medal. Each of the different city settings have 5 objectives, with each completion of each objective, you are rewarded a tape, earn all 30 tapes in the game and get a medal in each of the skate parks, and you unlock the bails video. This is a short but entertaining video of actual skaters biting it in many various ways. Lots of nut shots and faces to the concrete, very nice. Lastly, if you not only medal but get the gold medal in the 3 skate parks, plus the 30 tapes, you get the players video who you completed all this with. So far I have unlocked only Tony Hawks tape, only 8 to go.
Now as far as game play goes, the controls are very easy to learn, but the levels still challenge your playing skills. Precise jumps and rail slides are often needed along with big air and huge tricks at other times. The game will keep you challenged collecting those tapes, but even if you don't feel like hunting down hidden tapes or completing tape challenges, the game is still fun to mess around and do tricks all around the levels. There are always secret areas, and little fun combos to try.
Along with the easy and fun gameplay, the soundtrack is awesome, some people may just buy this game for the soundtrack which even includes Primus. This game is definately worth a try for any playstation owner, whether into skateboarding or not.
