vjer's Full Review: Um Jammer Lammy for PlayStation 1
underneath the obvious appeal for kids lies perhaps one of the trippiest storylines ever... for any age and any medium. where the first, Parappa, was creative and ingenious in its mundane and innocuous way, this blows it away with its smoked out and twisted visuals and concepts. in thus, there is a strong appeal for adults. (but i'm sure the kids just "see the pretty colors" ..or do they?)
gameplay follows the truly original first, tho now broadening the musical scope to a diverse variety rather than only rap/r&b type. thus, flexibility in getting down to different grooves is definitely necessary.
think you have rhythm?
the controls should be seen more like a musical instrument rather than a mere gamepad to avoid the initial learning frustration. if one can maintain the effort and not give up, mastery can actually be quite rewarding and gratifying. i would actually believe this process to be beneficial in some hand/eye/ear/mind coordination kind of way. in fact, most (all) younger kids seem to consistently outperform me. definitely some mind development stuff happening there.
vague as i may be about the details, hopefully i may have enticed you enough to check it out. this game will expand you. interpret that however you like.
