annedee's Full Review: Um Jammer Lammy for PlayStation 1
Background
Before I can review this game you'll need some background. In the first thirty years of this century scientists studied chemicals which would create odd reactions in the human mind. The child of this research was termed LSD. Popularized in th 1960s by Timmothy O'leary and others even a small amount of the substance caused bizzare halucionations. Some believe that using these chemicals can cause one to become enlightened. In their first release Sha-na-na-na-on-sha decided to abstaine from the drug. Thus Parrapa the Rapper was born. For the second release they decided to try something new.
The Game
Just Like Parrapa all you have to do is push a button in time with the music. Except eventually it gets all freaky and even though it sounds cool they mark you off! Ahhhh! But it's still really fun and addictive. The graphics are once again the paper thin people which is all good in my book. The plot of the game follows the main character Lammy on her way to her band's first gig. Lammy is the typical female, unsure and nervous (Just kidding), and she plays guitar in a power trio named Milk Can. Now on her way to the gig all sorts of bizzare, twisted shaznit starts happening. This may seem pretty ordinary, but add some halucinogens and things get interesting. Every level cracks (get it?) me up because there all off the wall. The music is all J-pop and catchy so that is a definite plus, I would love the soundtrack. There are tons of modes to unlock which was my problem with Parrapa. Hey rent it or buy for $20.00 and I bet you will love it.
Replay
I have played through the game several times just because it cracks me up every single time. There are various two player and Parrapa modes that add hours to gameplay this game is one you'll pull out every couple of months. It's fun to play at parties with a bunch of people around because it's all trippy and people think you're weird.
Conclution
This game is a fun, trippy game that will apeal to all ages. Everybody who has played has hated it then they couldn't stop playing it. Even though the Hell level is censored into an island this game still owns. The unsung great of the Playstation. As fun as E and as addictive as Crack. Ohhh and one last thing...
