Lordbria's Full Review: Wild Arms for PlayStation 1
When I 1st came across Wild Arms for the Sony Playstation, I had no idea of the game or even the story line itself. I got the game from a local game store for a good price and went to playing. From the opening I thought this indeed was a game i could get into. The animated intro and themed music was incredible and sucked me right in. It is still today one of my favorite intros to any game on the Playsation. Now to the game. I like the fact that you can start as one of three players and then have them all hook up together at a later time. This gave me a neat sense of exploration of the game, in it's early stages. The graphic were very well done and a very respectful throw back to the incredible 16 bit RPG days. They reminded me alot of other games i love like Lunar and Lunar : Eternal Blue. The Battle system was indeed one of the weaker points, the reason I say this is because they tend to drag out a bit. But take the fact that this was one of the 1st RPG games for the Playstation and it indeed can be forgiven. The 3D Battle graphic and animations were decent for its time and pale to what we know and play now, but they did the job for when it was made. The Story line was good and while it wasn't of the Final Fantasy class, it got the job done in spades. The characters were interesting and made you get involved with them a bit and made you relate as well to the game and what they do. The music was average and was done nicely and was not of a lot of the other classic sountracks to RPG's today we are used to but again it was great for it's time and does the job today as well. This game is a good buy for the cheap prices you can get and is a great way to cure that quick RPG fix you may need between those monsterous RPG's from Square and Working Designs and such. It is a great effort indeed for the time it was released and is still a good buy and a good game to pick up now as well. if you like this game i suggest you get Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete, Wild Arms II, and Tales of Phantasia.
