Battle system tedious near the end of the game (Reply to this comment)

Toward the end of the game, I groaned every time I heard the PSX make that little load sound a second before a battle popped up. The fighting system is innovative, and seemed at first like it would never get old, but I was wrong. It became a chore to think of new hit-combos, and when you unlock the special moves, battles become way too easy.
I loved the game, but I knew that I would never be able to sit through the battle system a second time, so I had to sell it. It remains one of my favorite storylines, but I doubt I'll ever play it again.

Wow! How come I never heard of this game?
I personally prefer to use the term "god of CRPGs" for Planescape: Torment, but I will definitely be on the look out for Xenogears.

...to review the "very best" things. I have no idea why. I think we're just so busy going "but it's so amazing!" that it's hard to stop and think about why. That said you did a fantastic job, and now I wish I could find this game...

To people who write XG reviews and praise the game, and now I say this, thank you Kenshin-Guy. This is the be all end all of the RPG world - nothing will ever touch this game in either depth, complexity, storyline, character progression and musical excellence (well, Yasunori outdid himself with Chrono Cross). Not even the ill-fated and sure to be screwed by Namco Xenosaga will amount to the brilliance in Xenogears.
