GasJocket214's Full Review: SSX Tricky for PlayStation 2
Hello everyone. I have officially been away from epinions for almost six months now. (Wow, it really doesn’t seem like it has been that long.) Epinions really started to look like it was going down the drain, and actually in a way it has. So many members have left, and the past six months have overall been garbage (for lack of a better word) for epinions. I really don’t have to tell you all this because I am sure that all of this has been debated while I was gone. Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I haven’t gone away and I am still writing.
The game that I have most recently been playing is a game that you all might have heard of, SSX Tricky. Otherwise known as the snowboarding game sent from heaven, Tricky has all of the elements that make a great game. I was really surprised at this because I really didn’t expect a whole lot out of a snowboarding game. I never would have thought that I would enjoy Tricky as much as I did (and still do for that matter). I did not buy the game however, it was given to me as a gift, so I really had no idea what to expect. I never played the original SSX game, so where was I to begin?
Well, I began buy putting the game into the Playstation 2 system and reading up on the basic controls of the game. To my amazement I got the hang of the game in a matter of minutes! The controls are extremely easy to learn and the tricks are even easier to pull off. The basic concept of the game is to fly up, down, and around giant mountains performing tricks and knocking your competitors flat on their faces on your way down.
The graphics in Tricky are astounding. The Playstation 2 has really showed us what its capabilities are with Tricky. The graphics are almost lifelike. They are crisp, clear, and colorful. I can guarantee that you will never run into any problems with graphical errors, or graphics skipping. Tricky was just so well done, that it would be a rarity if you ever find any errors in the game. You will be amazed at what you get graphically from this game.
The sound is also another nice treat. Who wouldn’t love the catchy Run DMC tune, “It’s Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that’s right on time….” The songs that were built into Tricky are incredibly done. They will get you pumped up to perform your best tricks while flying down the course at 74 MPH. Another nice feature is the voice acting. Tricky actually got the time (and money) to hire real life actors/musicians to do the voice acting. You will find huge names like David Arquette and Macy Gray who play the voices of Eddie the disco freak, and Seeiah the mysterious bald woman. How could you not love a game, which has such diverse characters? I mean where else are you going to find a disco freak and a bald lady in the same game?
The gameplay itself will have you grunting and groaning for hours. It will take weeks upon weeks to complete every race, and every showoff venue that Tricky offers. There are 8 regular tracks and 2 hidden ones, along with 12 snowboarders Tricky will have your attention for a very long time.
There are new snowboards to unlock, along with new outfits. You can also have your own specific username to keep track of your best scores. With Tricky you will have so much multi-player fun that you won’t be able to contain yourself. The controls are very easy to learn, the graphics are great, the gameplay is incredible, and it is fun for all ages. So what are you waiting for, go buy this game before they take it off the shelves like Grand Theft Auto 3.
Hey, thanks a lot for reading this, I know it has been a while since I have written anything so I might be a little rusty. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated while I am in the midst of rehabilitating my writing skills. Thank you very much.
