gemini_666's Full Review: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 for PlayStation 2
Well, I am not quite sure where to start with this one. I bought it because I was getting bored with my current game selection. When I played Dave Mirra 2, I was pleased. It has a lot of different features, but also is lacking some. You can do free rides, competitions, and do the "role playing" stuff. It also has a park editor which is way cool. As for things it is missing...we don't have a create-a-biker in it and we don't have anything really fun in the multiplayer. I didn't like the multiplayer stuff in it at all.
There are some major problems with Dave Mirra 2. I can't stand the games graphic problems and stuff. There are a lot of times when my person will "break through" some part of the course and just ends up falling in a "black abyss" or some other color only to start back somewhere nowhere near where I was. Also, the tricks are cool, but veyr unrealistic. I mean, a single backflip is hard to do in real life, but a TRIPLE BACKFLIP?!? Unnecessary. And the music selection is so short, you will turn the music off, I guarantee it. There are only EIGHT tracks in the game, all of which I personally don't care for.
The game has a good lasting appeal and I play it a lot, trying to get each character (including Slim Jim Guy, the kid who won that contest, and Amish boy) all the stats possible for them. But, I would much rather have waited for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 instead of this one. As for a biking game, I think Mat Hoffman's will be better.
