Finally, here is a game where you can't run the same group of plays over and over again. This game you actually have to play football. You have to mix up the play calling to keep your opponent on their feet, you have to have a basic idea of what types of plays to call and when. If you don't really know, there is a good tutorial, also I would recommend you get the players guide. The rookie level is a cake walk, it's really not too tough but it is a good place to learn the basic controls. When you feel that you have the basic idea of controls and such, try veteran. This will give you a challenge, the computer gets "smarter" and there is much more strategy. You must know what your opponents strengths are, and not just go into the game blind. The graphics are incredible, they all look a little pudgy, but they look very clean and smooth. The controls are great, very responsive and real. It's such a good feeling when you drop your shoulder and run a guy over with your half back! There are some sweet tackles too, some clothes lines and such, very aggresive!
On the down side, there are a few graphic problems, players going through each other (only on replays)! The one thing I don't really care for is when you are controlling a player and say you are covering a man, the moment you stop "controlling" him and/or moving him, the computer takes control and goes back to what or where the computer thinks it should be playing, based on the play design. This part really bugs me, but you learn to adjust. Sometimes the A.I. on your team is pretty stupid as well, you try to switch to the guy closest to the ball and you are now the free safety, who is 10 yards down field. Your teammates also don't always go right at the person with the ball, they will stick to the designed play until the absolute end.
