In particular, the PTWN6250M0WT model. I recently had a need to replace my older stackable washer/dryer combo which was about 15 years old. The washer worked well but dryer ceased. So I opted to replace the unit with the single washer and a single dryer.

The washer I selected after much debate was the Profile Washer, the 6250 model. A water saving High Efficiency Type. This washer appealed to me because of all the settings and "specialized modes".
This model has four knobs, one display window and a start/pause button. It is a top loading machine. The knobs are Signal, Temperature, Settings and Wash Cycle.
Signal: Turn the end of cycle signal on or off.
Temperature: cold, warm, hot, and a combination of these.
Settings: Autosoak which allows a brief agitation and soak then follow with the remainder of the wash cycle. A second rinse, extended spin and a setting for fabric softener, if you choose to add it.
Wash Cycle (My favorite): it allows for specialized settings for cottons, prewash, casual clothes, easy care, delicates, hand wash, speed spin, drain and spin, towels and sheets, jeans and quick rinse. Each has different times allocated for the cycle and different spin speeds.
The display does just that, it displays time and status. It notifies you if the lid is open (just in case you can't see that), filling water, pause, if it's balancing and end of cycle.
The start/pause knob serves just that function, you press it to start and if you'd like to pause the cycle to add or remove a piece of laundry (although I do not recommend adding during the wash cycle).
This machine is a water saver. One will have successful laundry times IF you follow manufacturer's directions.
I read many reviews on this washer (only after the purchase, I know...). Most reviews state that the laundry is not clean or the machine has an odor or it broke down fairly soon....
Let me identify the main problem: Operator Error! If you don't follow directions, you will be plagued with these problems.
1. Laundry is not clean: Since this machine is high efficiency and uses only enough water, not a predetermined amount, one must first add detergent and softener if desired, start machine and when prompted add laundry, one piece at a time or just a few if they're small articles. Once machine is full or appears full, close lid and you're done. Laundry will be nicely cleaned and smelling fresh.
2. Some complained of an odor: I found this to be the case as well after approximately 1 month. I found out quickly that you MUST use the specific cleaner once a month, especially if you don't use much bleach in your whites and if you don't leave the lid open to air the drum out. Not really that much to ask for if you want fresh smelling clothes.
3. Machine broke down, sensors broke: This machine is equipped with sensors and Manufacturer states it is equiped with Infusor wash action. I am not too sure what an Infusar wash action is (other than that it's trademarked, sorry). I do know that you should immediately switch to a high efficiency detergent which is not as concentrated and less foaming. This will save your sensor/s and the machine. I opted to extend the warranty since it is much "fancier" than my old one and I figured better safe than sorry. I am also glad I did.
Now, the last complaint which I read about frequently is noise. I don't find it particularly noisy, especially if I don't overload, which brings to mind one personal find: It's easy not to load much clothing, thinking of the water saving and not being used to the little water. It's a large drum and experience so far has taught me that it works more efficiently if loaded properly and not just one or two pieces.
I have had a little frustration with wrinkles even in the small hand wash load but after reading manufacturer's directions, perhaps I did that wrong. What stands out is that they recommend "like clothes", perhaps adding a pair of light weight jeans with my gabardine clothing still causes wrinkles. I will work on my skills.
Bottom line, I am using much less water on a monthly basis, clean the washer as recommended, every month and love using it. It's quiet, efficient, water saving and does a wonderful job. Price? Well, i did get a great deal at Brandsmart, $399 dollars with a $50 rebate check and at several other vendors it was no less than $500.00 plus. So I got a great deal. It works wonderful.
