| Gov9's Full Review: Freeway Golf Course |
First a little history. I believe Freeway Golf Course is one of the only black owned and operated golf courses in the country. Many of the members are black, but the majority of the guests seem to be white. Staff is respectful & friendly.
This course seems to be in different conditions every year, but this year it deserves a positive review. In Southern New Jersey, much like everywhere else, green fees have skyrocketed, while playing conditions have not improved. Freeway, on the other hand, has kept fees low and has improved the course. During the dry summer, Freeway has held up better than most courses. Fairways & greens were in great shape. Rough was shady.
Fairways $ greens were slower than average. This makes the 3600(!!)yd. front 9 play long for everyone. The front 9 is wide open, has small hills, and is always windy. The back 9 is tight, but much shorter & easier.
Play always seems to move decently, but when the round is done, it rarely comes in less than 4 hours. My last round, a drizzling weekday afternoon, was an exception, 3 hours. Weekend tee times can usually be had with no problem.
Small pro shop, a bar and restaurant, small driving range, & small putting area.
Best Hole: # 9 - A 3 shot par 5 with an uphill tee shot, downhill second, and uphill third. Even with no bunkers & no hazard, it is always the most adventurous hole.

Yes
