After I purchased my Keurig brewer, I went to Big Cat Coffees and ordered several varieties of coffee, using their Purr-fect Packs as a way of sampling many coffees instead of purchasing a large quantity of one coffee that I might find I do not even like. Included in these Purr-fect Packs was Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade Gingerbread K-Cups.

The first time I sampled the Gingerbread K-Cup, I did not use sugar with it and only added a little milk, the way I typically drink my coffee. This flavored coffee definitely smelled like gingerbread and had a slightly sweet taste. It is a Seasonal/Limited Edition coffee so I imagine it is made for the holidays. It does seem like a coffee that I would drink around Christmas with its fresh baked gingerbread aroma.

Big Cat Coffees advertising says that Gingerbread K-Cups are fragrant, spicy and just a bit sweet. It advises to savor the aromas of fresh, oven-baked gingerbread pastry. In the Big Cat notes, "In creating our flavored coffees, we often take a home cook's approach... combining flavors and roasts isn't so unlike working with your favorite recipes. And who doesn't enjoy the aromas and flavors of fresh-baked gingerbread? After lots and lots of recipes, we're proud of our results. Our Fair Trade Gingerbread coffee offers the zesty ginger and spice aromas of Mom's old-fashioned gingerbread pastry and warm oven-fresh flavor."

Green Mountain Coffee Fair Trade Gingerbread K-Cups are a light roast and that is probably one of the main reasons I like this flavor so much. I am definitely more prone to enjoy a light roast coffee than I am a dark roast since I think the dark roast flavors are a little bitter and I simply do not like a bitter or strong coffee.

After sampling the Gingerbread coffee with only the addition of milk, I tried my second cup with the addition of a teaspoon of sugar. This made the coffee very sweet and it seemed like a coffee I would have bought at a coffee shop. If you add sugar to this coffee, note that it only needs a small amount. The addition of one small teaspoon of sugar made it very sweet. I believe half a teaspoon would have been sufficient to sweeten it.

At Big Cat Coffees (www.bigcatcoffees.com), the Green Mountain Coffee - Fair Trade Gingerbread K-Cups are offered at 13.75 per 24 K-Cups or 4@13.25 per 24 K-Cups for a total of $53.00 on special. You can also add a 5 count of the K-Cups to a Purr-fect Pack, the solution for those who only want to sample the coffee without having to buy a large quantity. This is what I did, but I might buy a larger quantity in the future since I do like this flavor very much.

The Fair Trade label indicates that this Green Mountain Coffee is guaranteed and certified by TransFair USA that the farmers who grew the beans for making this coffee are paid a fair price for their product, provided with much-needed credit, and given technical assistance such as help in making the transition to organic growing. So, if the coffee is certified Fair Trade it is a coffee that came from a reputable grower who was paid a fair wage for his product and given the benefit of organic growing.

If you enjoy flavored coffee or simply want to try something different, I highly recommend Green Mountain Coffee – Fair Trade Gingerbread K-Cups. The flavor is very aromatic and tastes just right if you enjoy a light roast coffee. It is not bitter or overwhelming in the coffee sense. It tastes like you might have picked it up at a local coffee shop where they are offering a seasonal flavor of coffee for your enjoyment. Overall, it is a delicious gingerbread flavor that will remind you of the oven-baked pastry and, if you are at all like me, lead you to sampling even more flavored coffees.
