Gud By Burts Bees Orange Hand Cream
Written: Apr 05 '13
Pros:Natural ingredients, smells wonderful, absorbs well, not greasy
Cons:Benefits were short lived
The Bottom Line: This smells amazing and it does provide temporary relief to dry skin, but it simply doesn't last long enough.
Most of my hand lotion stash has been using up during our long, cold winter. I had lotion on my list of things to buy, but I didn't plan on purchasing this Gud Hand Cream. It was in the clearance section at Walmart, priced at $3.00! The price was just too irresistible. It retails for $7.00, so it was more than 50% off.
The top of the tube reads "gud" in large letters, and below that in small print it reads "From Burt's Bees". I was not aware that Burt's Bees was making personal care products under the brand name of Gud. I love Burt's Bees because their products are from natural sources. The Gud Orange Petalooze Hand Cream does claim to be "Natural".
It comes in a 3 ounce tube with an orange colored flip top cap The bottle sits on the cap, so gravity makes it easy to squeeze out a dollop. The consistency is medium thick, and it has a wonderfully fresh orange scent.
At first I thought it was going to be a greasy lotion, but as I rubbed it into my hands it absorbed quickly into my skin and that greasy feeling went away. My hands didn't feel a bit tacky or oily, but they did feel refreshed and moisturized. The product is supposed to be a scent of blood oranges and hyacinth, but the only scent I notice is a citrus one.
As much as l like the way this hand cream applied, absorbed, and smelled, I am disappointed that the moisturizing benefits don't last longer than they do. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I had to reapply the cream in as little as an hour because my hands were feeling dry and sore.
To conclude, it does work, but it doesn't work long enough. My experience with this hand cream isn't positive enough that I would be willing to spend $7 on another tube.
For those with chemical sensitivities and allergies, the ingredients listed on the tube are: Water, sunflowerseed oil, glyceryl stearate, glycerin, ceteareth-20 cetearyl alcohol, fragrance, phenoxyethanol, tapioca starch, shea butter, angelica archangelica root extract*, calendula officinalis flower extract*, licoriceroot extract*, lippia citriodora leaf extract*, tocopheol, plantago lanceolata leaf extract*, xanthan gum, soybean oil, alcohol denatured, potassium sorbate. *Organic.
