Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Care with eucalyptus shampoo is one of the newer additions to the Head & Shoulders line.

There are 14.2 oz. in the familiar blue-and-white bottle.  The green itchy scalp care logo with eucalyptus leaves is easy to spot on the shelf. 

The formula is a pyrithione zinc dandruff and itchy scalp care shampoo.  It carries the Head & Shoulders guarantee to relieve scalp itch, dryness, irritation and dandruff flakes. I have never had dandruff; but a couple of years ago I started to develop sore and itchy spots on my scalp without any visible redness or irritation.  I had used a stronger brand-name shampoo which alleviated my condition somewhat; but I still needed something to bring my scalp back to health.

What you will notice immediately about this shampoo is the fresh and invigorating eucalyptus scent.  I do not care for strong, overpowering scents; and I found that this shampoo was quite pleasant.  The shampoo produces a rich lather; and you can feel the slight tingle of the calming eucalyptus.  It is pH balanced, safe for everyday use and on colored or permed hair.  For best results, Head & Shoulders suggests that you also use one of their conditioners.

I experienced a slight improvement in my scalp condition; but, as it turns out, this shampoo junkie has developed a sensitivity to all scented shampoos.  My dermatologist suggested that I switch to an expensive brand-name hypoallergenic shampoo; but I was able to achieve the needed results with a store brand hypoallergenic baby shampoo for under $3 for 20 oz. My husband, however, has found a winner.  He loves this shampoo and says that it works better than his pricey prescription dandruff shampoo.

The active anti-dandruff ingredient is pyrithione zinc 1%.  Head & Shoulders suggests that you use the shampoo at least twice a week to maintain a healthy, dandruff-free scalp.

Inactive Ingredients:

Water, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, cocamide MEA, zinc carbonate, glycol distearate, dimethicone, fragrance, cetyl alcohol, sodium xylenesulfonate, menthol, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium benzoate, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, magnesium carbonate hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, eucalyptus globulus leaf extract, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone

Warnings: 

For external use only.  Avoid contact with eyes.  If contact occurs, rinse eyes thoroughly with water.  Keep out of reach of children.  Stop use and ask a doctor if condition worsens or does not improve when used as directed.

If you’re frustrated with a dandruff and/or itchy scalp problem; and you’ve tried other shampoos without any improvement, you might want to give Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Care with eucalyptus shampoo a try.  I found it to be a little pricey; but my husband gives this shampoo a definite “thumbs up”.
