Pros: timer, airtight storage
Cons: messy, not very reliable
The Bottom Line: If it had worked I'd be reasonably happy with it, though the messiness bothers me. But given that it broke so quickly I'd suggest avoiding it.

| alan's Full Review: Braun KMM 30 Electric Burr Grinder |
This grinder looks great on paper. It has an adjustable grind size suitable for grinding beans for French press and espresso coffee, and anything in between. The beans go into a air-tight container on the top so you can store them in the grinder indefinitely, and just grind your coffee right before you need it. The on switch is actually a timer, so you doing have to hang around while the coffee is being ground, either.
This all sounds pretty good, but there are some downsides too. For one, the grinder is pretty loud - I prefer to set the timer and them busy myself in another room until it's done, but then I'm pretty sensitive to loud noise. It is, however, no more noisy than other grinders I've seen, and I think most people wouldn't mind.
Also it's very messy - the grinder deposits the grounds into a removable container, and without fail removing that container causes some coffee to spill on the table. I've taken to keeping the grinder on top of a black towel so that the grinds are not so visible.
Finally, and most bothersome of all, is that my grinder broke only 2 months after I got it, and I didn't even use it much during those two months - maybe grinding 1 or 2 lbs of coffee, at most. Braun would repair it, but expected me to pay for the return shipping to their service center. After arguing with the phone technician they finally agreed to pay my return shipping this one time, but they should have offered that on their own.
So in conclusion it might look appealing, but I'd consider products from other manufacturers first.
