So there I was (Reply to this comment)
by Trawma, in Home and Garden
Trying to figure out how to grind up these flax seeds (I usually buy them pre-ground). Did a search on yahoo and what do I find? Your review! You've totally answered my questions, though I want to ask--how is your grinder doing now? Still happily grinding flax?
Thanks!

Grinding Flax Seed (Reply to this comment)
by joankelsy
Thank you. Have not used grinder for about a year. The instructions are "somewhere". I guessed at cleaning method, as I wanted to grind sprouted wheat berries for a bread recipe. You have reassured me that I guessed right and did not louse up the little wonder.
I may refer to your review on my blog, www.driveucrazy.com, with a link to this site. Come visit my musings, etc. Enjoy the photos of Cape Cod and other places.

Hi! I can't imagine swallowing flax seed whole with water. Yuck ... LOL. It's bad enough taking my multi-vitamin in the morning.
Wishing you a wonderful day,

Flax (Reply to this comment)

Never occurred to me that you could use a coffee grinder for flax seeds!! Swallowing them whole with water isn't the best in terms of health benefits, and chewing a moutful dry isn't that much fun either. Great idea! :)

I have a Braun coffee grinder also...that I use for grinding coffee beans. :-)
It seems to have worked well for me over the past 4 years and I am completely satisfied with it's performance. Never thought to use it for anything else...now I know!
Thanks for the information. Good review.

Re: Flax Seed & Grinder (Reply to this comment)

Hi everyone! This little coffee grinder has been a great buy. It grinds the flax seed so fine that when it's mixed into a recipe, you don't even know the flax seed is there. The fine powder is also great for sprinkling on top of food such as green salads, chicken salad or even pancakes as they are cooking.
Thank you for the comments.
Wishing you a great day!

I LOVE flax! (Reply to this comment)

I have a Capresso grinder reserved for flinging flax around ... works like a charm! I mix it into yogurt and use it in place of graham cracker in cheesecake crusts. Good stuff, flax!
Nice job on this.

Good review of the grinder. (Reply to this comment)

We have a coffee grinder that is used for coffee, but I had not thought of using it for other uses such as flax seed. I also was unaware of the health benefits of flax, so thanks for that tidbit as well!
