This is my (somewhat late- sorry!) submission to Sleeper54’s Lean and Mean Write-Off. The challenge: write a review of something using no more than 666 words. Eek! Here goes:

I received a Cuisinart Coffee Bar Automatic 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker as a gift last Christmas, and have been very pleased with it! It makes 12 cups of coffee, which is great for entertaining, and features a flavor switch at the top that you turn when using a flavored coffee. If you are making 10 cups you turn the dial to 㥶.” By doing this, the coffee maker recognizes how it should brew for maximum flavor. It will pour just the right amount into the grounds and direct the rest directly into the pot, so your coffee is never too strong or weak. I have brewed coffee without using this feature, and I have to say I don’t notice a remarkable difference, but there is one- just a very subtle one.

The water tank is very easy to fill, with a small red ball that rises as you fill it, making it easy to see what water level you are at. Another feature that I love is the gold mesh reusable filter- no messy paper filters! I just empty the grinds out and give the filter a good rinse. I have used this machine every day for nearly a year, and the original filter is still in great shape!

The coffeepot itself is attractive and easy to hold onto when pouring- it has a nice wide handle. There is a little plastic hinged bit that covers the pouring area and moves out of the way when you pour, but helps to keep heat and steam in when it is sitting and staying warm.

This coffee maker is programmable, and you can set the time and auto-brew-I put the water and grinds in at night before bed, hit a button, and my coffee is ready for me when I wake up in the morning! You also can select your preferred coffee temperature- I control how hot I want the coffee to be by setting the temperature of the metal plate it sits on. The controls for this are very straightforward and easy to use.

My coffeemaker is white, and gets dirty easily, but it cleans up quickly with a damp sponge. The pot is dishwasher safe and the coffeemaker itself is self-cleaning.

Overall I have been very pleased with this coffeemaker, and they are much less expensive now than they were last year (around $90 last year!), so it may make the perfect holiday gift for someone you know! Enjoy!
