Pros: Quiet, efficient cycles. Quick/Econo cycle does a good job.
Cons: Leaks.
The Bottom Line: Quiet and efficient cleaning. Replacement due to leak was slow, but Bosch representatives were helpful throughout. Check your d/w carefully for leaks before warranty expires.

| ajoch's Full Review: Bosch SHU53 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher |
We were generally happy with this machine, until we discovered that it had a small leak at the front of the machine (door gasket). This was after about 18 months and only running it about 30 times, but it had been going on for a while since there was a build up of soap residue under the machine and other water damage. Because it was a small leak, and no water was coming out towards the front of the dishwasher, we did not notice it right away.
After checking the obvious things (wear on gasket, blockages, oversudsing) we haven't been able to diagnose the problem and I'm told a repair could cost over $200 since it outside of the 1 yr warranty.
So one important piece of advice I have when buying a new d/w is after a few months (i.e. well before the warranty expires), run a cycle or two with the toe plate off to check carefully for any leaks, as I'm sure if I had done this, I would have found the problem while under warranty. When it was first installed, I did this for one cycle and everything seemed fine, but didn't remove to toe plate again until a couple of weeks ago when we noticed a small amount of water on the floor and then discovered the other water damage and soap residue.
Bosch offered some suggestions for what could cause the leak, but none of them apply, so it seems we will end up paying to get it serviced. (Either that or I'm thinking about throwing and old towel under the leaking spot)
I wouldn't buy Bosch again after going through this. It's very dissappointing to run into problems like this after spend a more to get a "high-end" product.

UPDATE: I went ahead and had a serviceman come to take a look at the dishwasher. After some digging, he isolated the leak coming from a defect in seam between two sheets of metal that form the interior wall of the dishwasher. After taking some pictures of the problem and e-mailing them to Bosch support, they decided to send a replacement.
Due to some miscommunications between the Bosch, their local distributor, and the local retailer that they wanted to send the replacement through, it took over two months to get it to me. I had to call Bosch at least 5 times to try to figure out the delays and move things forward, but the service representatives were generally helpful and there was never a wait to speak with someone.
The new dishwasher is a newer model with a more sleek design and a few added features. Although it cost about $50 to have the serviceman diagnose the problem, and it took a long time to get the replacement, I'm happy with the end result.
I still give the same advice as above though: take a good look for small leaks the might be hiding under the dishwasher before the your full warranty expires.
