With all that implies...
First, it looks great! It cleans well, and is extremely quiet. I recommend using Cascade Complete powder detergent. Do not use liquid detergents.
Now for the bad.
This dishwasher is like a late 60's Jaguar E-Type with a six cylinder engine and three carburetors. Get all three carbs in tune, and it runs great. Otherwise, it runs lousy. They say a great thing about owning a Jaguar is that the service departments have nice waiting rooms. Well to keep you from getting to know your FP serviceman on a first name basis, NEVER ALLOW IT TO FLOOD!
The dishwasher floods for a variety of reasons: dishes sticking above the top preventing the lid from closing, too much egg residue left on plates, too much regular dish soap left on plates, or a clogged drained line caused by food particles. When the drawer floods, the water/detergent solution catches on the bottom pan, and trips a switch on a computer board mounted on it. The problem is that the dishwasher detergent corrodes the contacts of the flood switch after a few inadvertent floods. This causes an intermittent F1 fault, which most recently I've seen even when I haven't run the dishwasher!
Having just "tuned up" my Jaguar of a dishwasher, I offer the following advice to keep your FP running great, and to keep you from useless $100 service calls. First, it is relatively straightforward to remove the bottom cover from each dishdrawer and disconnect the drain hose. You can clear the drain hose by blowing into it. You can tell when the drain hose is clogged, because the dishwasher will run louder than when it was new.
Second, if your dishdrawer floods, resulting in an F1 alarm, disconnect power (to get the annoying alarm to turn off), and leave both dishdrawers open overnight to allow it to dry out. This will usually allow you plug it back in. Before plugging it in, remove the cover on the bottom pan to expose the computer board and wipe off the contacts to ensure they are free from dishwasher soap residue. If there is corrosion on the surface of the computer board, remove it and use an eraser to rub off the corrosion. Use a precision flat-head screwdriver to remove more stubborn corrosion, being careful not to scrape off any of the computer board material. By following these instructions, you can avoid costly service calls.
The last paragraph should convince a FP owner to avoid flooding at all costs. If you are considering the purchase of a FP dishdrawer, it is the Jaguar of dishwashers. If you take the appropriate precautions, the convenience of two dishwashers in the space of one, the quiet operation, and the cleaning performance will serve you well. If you are careless in rinsing off plates, or in loading the dishwasher and cause it to flood, you will be in for repeated service calls.
