Pros: Cleans dishes well, quiet, practical for the kosher kitchen
Cons: Broke early, long time delay for repair, service people lack familiarity with unit
The Bottom Line: Even considering its advantages, I cannot recommend this machine, because of all the headaches we've had from this lemon

| rosenbj1's Full Review: Fisher and Paykel DD-602 24 in. Built-in Dishwashe... |
Our model broke less than 1 month after we bought it. In the middle of the night, while the unit was doing a timer wash, I woke to hear it beeping incessantly, indicating a error fault which was unclear as to the cause by the instructions. The only way I was able to shut off the beeping was to trudge down to the basement and shut off the circuit breaker. A few days later, when the authorized repair man in our area arrived, he told us it was due to a break in the washer's seal, and that a replacement part would need to be ordered. Meanwhile, the circuit needed to remain shut down, and we had to rearrange our kitchen appliances accordingly. After repeated calls to the "authorized" repair center, the part arrived nearly FOUR WEEKS LATER, apparently shipped from New Zealand to California to the east coast. Finally, when the repairman returned and replaced the part, he then informed us that the circuit board was broken as well, which would need to ordered as well. Calls to Fisher/Paykel's customer service line were absolutely unhelpful ("the delays aren't our fault", "we won't replace the unit until it requires 3 repairs")
We initially made the purchase of this very expensive ($1200) dishwasher, because it is ideal for a kosher kitchen, where we require dedicated dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils for meat and dairy foods, so that each can be washed separately. It was one of our few indulgences my wife and I decided on for our kitchen. Needless to say, we are very disappoined. To be fair, the machine did work well up until it broke down; the cleaning was thorough, the noise level very low, and arrangement of dishes flexible. However, it does not excuse the breaking down, the poor service with delays, especially given the exceedingly high price for the dishwasher. Let me put it this way-- we've now had a broken, $1200 dishwasher in our home for longer than a working $1200 dishwasher.
