I have been using this dryer for about ten months, and am pleased overall. I live in Brooklyn, NY, and converted a closet in my second bedroom to hold a stackable washer and dryer. Outside venting was not an option, and I was also limited in choice due to the space that the unit would have to fit. I do laundry for two people and this machine is more than adequate, although I could see a problem for large families given its relatively small capacity.
I was enormously skeptical about the whole self-venting dryer concept. I had visions of lint flying around the room while moisture droplets formed on what was left of the ceiling after the plaster cracked and fell to the floor. Thankfully, I was wrong.
The dryer performs well and has many sensor settings to accommodate a wide range of objectives. In addition, the dryer reverses directions frequently to prevent clothes from tangling together. Its self proclaimed Exceptionally Quiet Operation is a little off the mark, it does make more noise than I would have expected.
While in use, the closet must remain open to ensure adequate air exchange. The bedroom is about 13x12, and the temperature generally rises several degrees, something to think about in the summer months. I generally find that running a ceiling fan is more than adequate to control the slight rise in temperature. The dryer actually draws a little humidity out of the room as the air is heated and condensed and then pumped into the washer drain.
The machine runs on 220v, making it more efficient, but youll probably need an electrician to run a new line if you only have the standard 110v.
