My wife purchased this for me for my Christmas gift this year. She has been dying for me to open it for the last month it has been sitting under the tree.
She bought me the machine as well as the accessory kit which has the frothing pitcher and a thermometer, a scoop, and a couple of Starbucks espresso shot glasses. This kit is a must have for just the frothing pot and thermometer. Your milk is frothed and heated perfectly with this item. I do feel for the price of this machine, these items should of been included.
I opened it last night (Christmas Eve)and went right to work with it after a quick overview of the direction book. I have not viewed the video as it is a VHS tape and not a DVD. Our only VCR is back in our 4 year old daughters bedroom, don't feel like sitting in the back of the house to watch it. They should include a DVD as well as VHS tape.
Anyway, back to the machine. This is a quality piece of machinery. It is heavy duty and made to last. I had a little experience from the agony of using my $25.00 Mr. Coffee espresso machine so this machine was easy to pick up the use and a pure pleasure to operate.
Now comes the real test, the coffee. I made some Vanilla Latte's and you could honestly not tell the difference from the Latte's made on the multi thousand dollar machines in the Starbucks. It was true heaven in my mouth particularly after drinking from the Mr. Coffee machine which honestly isn't a bad machine for those on a limited budget.
I am quite pleased with this machine and my wife did an excellent job of choosing a quality product. She originally was going to order me an automatic from the Internet but after asking a few people what to look at, everyone pointed her to Starbucks.
She didn't get any "deals" or sale price so she paid full price which is a bit high but if you are an espresso addict like me it is a god send. After I retired I no longer drive into the metro area and the closest Starbucks is very inconvenient to get to and with gas the price it is my $4.00 Vanilla Latte would have probably another dollar added to it with the gas I would burn to get there. I now have it right here at home.
I used to spend on the average of $40.00 a week on coffee so I figure this machine will easily pay for itself in 2 months and the be "pure profit" in my pocket after!
