Pros:Lightweight, mixes well, storage container, works for an extended time period.

Cons:None.

The Bottom Line: The Hamilton Beach Hand Mixer is a sturdy and durable small appliance for any kitchen - and it comes with is own storage case.

I do a lot of cooking and baking, so my hand mixer gets a lot of use.  When I got married, I received a Black and Decker model which worked great for my purposes for about ten years...until I was trying to do too many things at once and inadvertently found that the wire was touching the flame on a turned-on burner.  Thankfully, there was no fire and the only damage was that the mixer was ready for the garbage and needed to be replaced.  Of course, this happened while I was cooking a large amount of food for a party and I needed a new mixer that day.  After looking at the ones on the store shelf, I ended up with the Hamilton Beach 6269R Hand Mixer.

This hand mixer is the first one that I had seen that comes with a storage container for its attachments.  It is clear plastic with no top, and it gets covered by the mixer snapping onto its top.  The pieces all fit inside, along with the cord, the entire thing can be lifted by the handle on the mixer, and it can be stored either on its bottom (with the handle facing up) or on its side.  Either direction measures about nine inches, and it is about four inches across at its widest point.

I was accustomed to a four speed mixer, but this one has six speeds, along with a "Burst"  button which gives you additional power while on any speed, but should not be used for more than two minutes at a time or you may damage the motor.  The lowest speed is for folding or mixing in dry ingredients, second is for creaming butter and sugar and for most cookie doughs, third is for package cake mixes, fourth is for mashed potatoes and frosting, fifth is for beating egg whites, and sixth is for whipping cream.  Although I have never tried it, the instructions state that the fourth through sixth speeds can also be used for kneading dough.

In addition to standard flat beaters for general mixing purposes, also included are two twisted wire beaters intended for thicker batters and cookie dough, as well as a single whisk for making whipped cream.  To insert any of these attachments, simply push it into the opening until you hear it click into place.  The whisk can be used in either hole, and it does not matter which hole which flat beaters is inserted into, but for some reason, one of the wire beaters has a metal collar that requires it to be inserted into the hole on the left.  To remove any of the attachments make sure the unit is turned off and press the speed control button to eject them.  Of course, it is recommended that the appliance be unplugged before inserting or removing any of the pieces.

This hand mixer has a "bowl rest" feature, which allows you to turn it off and rest it on the edge of the bowl, with the beaters in the batter to avoid dripping onto the counter.  I do not use this feature for two reasons:  one, the bottom of the mixer is flat, so it can stand on its end and as long as the beaters are hovering over the bowl, anything that drips will just drop back into the batter and two, some of my bowls have a flared edge, so that this mixer is not stable.

Although the directions state that the attachments should be washed in hot, soapy water and do not indicate whether or not they can be placed in the dishwasher, I have put my whisk, and beaters through many, many times with no problems.  The mixer, cord and storage case should be wiped down with a damp cloth, and the case does say that it should not be put into the dishwasher.

I believe that this mixer was priced at about thirty dollars, but it was on sale for about twenty-five when I purchased it.  I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of this appliance, and it has not failed me in the three or so years that I have had it.  There are days when I am preparing multiple dishes so that as soon as the beaters are washed, the mixer is back in use again, three or four times.  I have never had a problem with the machine overheating and have never felt that I was pushing this 225 watts of appliance to do more than it could handle.  I use it for whipping cream, beating eggs, making pancakes, various types of doughs and I use it often.

This mixer fits comfortably in my hand, and weighs less than three pounds.  For the occasional baker, or for an at-home chef, the Hamilton Beach 6269R Hand Mixer is a great appliance.  The attached storage case keeps all of the accessories together and I have found the motor to be powerful enough for all of my cooking purposes.
