Waste of Money

Pros: Make a good cup of coffee

I bought this coffee maker about 5 months ago and I hate it. Almost everything that they promise does not work. The stop and pour basket does not work. The first time I called the manufacturer they said that it was probably just stuck and to loosen the spring, which I did and it worked for a few days (sort of) I called back and they sent me out a new basket. It worked for about a week and then the same problem started happening once again. I have not put it through the dishwasher, but wash it cafefully by hand so I don't know whey the spring does not work. I have a cheap Mr. Coffee at work that is seriously abused by many employees and that feature has been working on that machine for 4 years. Also, there is supposed to be an inside and outside water gauge - the outside gauge has not worked from day one - that is not that big of a deal, the inside one is fine - but for $130.00 you should expect it to work. There is also supposed to be a tone when the coffee has finished brewing. That did not work for the first month we had it - I mentioned that to Kitchenaid also and they told me I must not have the model that does that. OK, then one day about 2 months later I hear this high pitched tone coming from the coffee maker when the coffee was done - it worked and then stopped working again a few weeks ago. The filter tone also does not work. The carafe is supposed to be drip free. The carafe spills everywhere when pouring doesn't matter if I pour slow, fast, high, low - it drips. Again, the cheap old Mr. Coffee at work doesn't drip. This machine does make a nice tasting cup of coffee that stays very hot but that is definitely not worth the money. I suppose I probably got a lemon. Unfortunately, my husband threw the box away so I can not send it back. I will be shopping for a new coffee maker in the very near future.
