A Cheaper Alternative

Pros: Cools efficiently, effectively and silently
Cons: No digital control, but you save $80.00 over the Kenmore version
The Bottom Line: If you need a good air conditioner for less than $150.00 this IS the one to get.

First off let me start buy saying this ISN'T a review of the Kenmore 71055, but it's cousin the Frigidare FAC052K7 which are identical except for the digital control.
Pity Epinions doesn't list Frigidaire as a brand, that's why I am writing this review here.
The Two air conditioners are identical except the Kenmore has digital controls and the Kenmore doesn't.
The Frigidaire version avalible at Lowes for $139.00 (I used my 10% off card and got it for $125) is an excellent performer.
Here's why:
1: Quiet:
In fact the quietest air conditioner I've EVER owned period.
It is quieter on the high speed than most others are on low.
It really lives up to the whisper cool name
2: Cold:
With outside tempatures at 90 degrees and an indoor tempature of 75 degrees this unit will put out 48 degree air, about 5-10 degrees colder than most 5,000 BTU air conditioners
3: Efficive Airflow:
Airflow is even across the front of the unit and the louvers do a good job of directing the air where you want it.
4:Efficient:
EER is 9.7 for this model which is considerably better than older air conditioners.
5: Minimal dripping:
All air conditioners drip water outside the unit, some more than others.
The Frigidaire uses the wasted condensation from cooling the inside and "slings" it on the condenser (outside part) to help cool the air conditioner improving efficiency.
It WILL drip on extremely humid days but a lot less than other air conditioners I have owned.
Minimizing dripping also controls bugs, as here in SC bugs seem to LOVE standing water.
If you need a good air conditioner for less than $150.00 this IS the one to get.
