I live in an apartment building owned by this little Polish guy that can not speak more than a dozen words of English. His English seems to be at its worst when something needs to be fixed or replaced.
When my kitchen sink was leaking so bad that the downstairs neighbors were getting a waterfall every time I attempted to do the dishes, the polocko came over and tried to fix the pipes under the sink with his bare hands. No tools, No new pipes, just his hands. He tightened the leaky pipes with his hands and two minutes later he said, “it’s fixed” The leaking stopped for about three minutes. Now, months later, he has hundreds of dollars in water damage.
When my refrigerator stopped working, I called up Dupa-Yash and asked if he could fix it. He said “unplug and wait one minute and turn back on.” Needless to say, that did not work. I called a refrigerator repairman; he fixed the thing in 10 minutes and charged me $70. I made sure it came out of the monthly rent. If I waited for this guy to get around to fixing it, I would have been stuck eating vegetables and beans out of the can. That could have been dangerous for everyone living in the whole building, canned food gives me extreme amounts of gas.
Now that we are having one of the hottest summers in years, it would only make sense that my next problem in the Polock Mansion would be with the air conditioner. I live on the third floor directly under a hot tar roof. When the temperatures reach 90 degrees outside it is well over a 100 degrees in my unit without air conditioning.
The problem I am having with the air conditioner that the landlord provided is it is taking up too much electricity. This wall unit air conditioner looks like it is from the early seventies and it is the size of a Buick. It will only run 30 minutes at a time before the electric goes out in my whole apartment. I need to go in the bedroom and push the button on the circuit breaker to get the electric back on, this was happening about 40 times a day. A large amount of electricity is used when turning on an air conditioner, imagine my electric bill after turning it on and off 40 times a day.
I waited three days for the slum-lordski to come and replace the air conditioner. In that three days I must have taken 30 showers to stay cool. Also between sweating and not eating much I lost 4 pounds. I could not wait another day. I have read about people my age dropping dead in this kind of heat.

I went to Best Buy with the intentions of buying the cheapest air conditioner available, I had my eye on this little bedroom air conditioner for $150 but they were sold-out and would not get more in for 5-7 days. They had two models in stock that I could afford one that cost $270 and the Whirlpool Value Series Air Conditioner ACM082XJ that I chose to buy that costs $240. The lady that worked at Best Buy tried to sell me a three year warranty for $25, since I could be dead in less time than that, I decided not to waste the money.
I knew I could not carry a heavy air conditioner by myself, so I brought my worthless son-in-law to help out. He was able to carry the Whirlpool Value Series Air Conditioner ACM082XJ up to the third floor by himself without much struggle, he said it felt like it weighed about 60lbs. If this out of shape fat pig could carry this thing alone it could not weigh much more than that.
I had him put it in my bedroom window, it only took him about 10 minutes to screw in the adjustable sides that insure a tight fit and to put in the window. This is a large air conditioner for a bedroom but I wanted to sleep in a cold room after going through the three days of torture.
There is only two controls on this unit, one knob controls the amount of air from LOW, MEDIUM and TURBO, the second knob controls the coldness of the air 1 through 10.
The bedroom was about 100 degrees when I turned on the Whirlpool Value Series Air Conditioner ACM082XJ. I set it on medium, with a coldness level set at 7. Ten minutes later the room was comfortable. I fell sound asleep like a baby. I woke three hours later and the room was ice cold, it must have dropped below 60 degrees in my medium sized bedroom. It was so cold in the room that I woke up with an erection and the need to urinate. This is something that has not happened to me since I dabbled with Viagra.

This air conditioner is perfect for a bedroom if you keep it on very low settings. I decided to put this in my front room window so it could cool the whole house. On the box Whirlpool claims this is the most energy efficient A.C at this size, they say your electric bill will only go up about $56 dollars a year. I find that impossible to believe, but I can tell it is not using much power, my electricity did not shut off and the low humming sound of the air conditioner seems to indicate it is using less energy.
