So I bought a house with a Black SGM365 cooktop already installed. The range was installed in '05, I bought the house in '06, now it is '09 and I'm dreaming of the day my wife lets me replace the cooktop.

1) the burners do a great job of heating the sides of your pans. The center of my pans get nothing even close to good heat (Calphalon). The flames shoot out of the burners horizontally, so the higher you have the gas, the wider the flame is. This basically makes cooking with a wok on the 14k btu burner impossible, even with the wok ring. The other burners aren't any better with the wok. Boiling 1qt water in a 2qt pot on the small burners takes about 8-10 minutes.
2) The knobs are too high. The tops of the knobs are slightly higher than the top of the cook surface, so when you pull a hot cookie sheet from the oven and it happens to lay over the knobs, they melt. Lame.
As far as bad igniters, I only have one that gives me trouble every now and then, and that is usually when I haven't used it for a few weeks. The rest all work well. Lucky I guess.
