Pros: Very nice, convenient controls. Quiet. Large capacity and flexible loading options. Good cleaning.
Cons: Stupidly designed silver-tray. Discoloration of plastic interior beginning.
The Bottom Line: These are good machines, but I was expecting better. Gradual discoloration of interior disappointing. Silver-tray design is a travesty.

| frostycat's Full Review: Whirlpool GU1500XT - Multiple Color 24 in. Built-i... |
Bought two of these in last two years for two different locations. Both work just fine, better than previous Kitchen Aids, but nothing spectacular. Large capacity. Flexible and easy load options. Quiet in operation and frugal with detergent and water. However, plastic interiors have begun to discolor slightly. Silverware tray is a flimsy nuisance with a latch that trips too easily allowing silverware to spill all over the place when its picked up.
One unit had a defective fill-valve that Whirlpool refused to acknowledge. No time to have fixed during warranty period so I paid for it myself later - $80.00. In fairness, I could have had it fixed for free under warranty but my schedule just wouldn't allow me the time to pursue.
The controls are very convenient and well thought out. Both machines clean very well and I have enjoyed the quietness. However, if was buying again tomorrow I would shop around. Don't think I'd buy this model again. I am not dissatisfied, but neither am I particularly impressed. I see no reason not to expect good service life from both.
I have kept "durability" rating at "average" because I haven't owned them long enough to say. I rated overall "above average" because of the capacity and overall convenience. However, I was expecting more/better.
