While on a recent visit to friends in Thailand,
our friend bought this product.
Sharp sells this pc of junk,
named R 230, which is a completely
different animal from what they sell
in Japan or USA.
These crazy people give it the same
name : R 230

TWO settings, hi or lo.
thats still ok, its only USD 55 in Asia...
but
what makes it complete JUNK
is what it cannot do.
try putting a normal ceramic mug
in there with water, and set it for
any thing you like, 2 mins, 4 or even
5 mins on High...
sure, the water is good and hot.. over 205 F
but so is the ceramic mug !
TOO hot to touch, even at 2 mins.
this does NOT happen with better microwaves dear.
Bought also a Sanyo EM FL 50 N ( same thing
the world over...)
its very good. setting to boil water is
abt 1 min 45 secs.
still boiling even after i take it out of
the sanyo microwave.
the cheaper Sharp NEVER BOILS !
only gets hot... never quite reaches
212 F, the boiling point.
try the popcorn test on both..
take your standard BAG of popcorn...
if you have a sensitive tongue and pay
attn to detail...
you will note that the better waves,
like the SANYO.. give you MUCH better tasting
popcorn, in 3- 3.5 mins.
no burns, no undercook, evenly done
and actually tasty !
the sharp screws this up so bad,
i cant begin to describe it.

thats why its cheap, ladies and gentlemen.
it s probably not true microwave.. or
its way off... way, way way off.
i am only guessing this..
but either the frequency of microwave is off...
quite a bit....
or
the high freq microwave power is too intermittent...
or
somehow the microwave is too narrow and beaming
or
some other wierd stuff is happening on
these less than usd 60 types of microwave.
i would suggest you to kindly TRY the popcorn test
if possible
or
stick to those machines that cost over usd 100
at least they are designed with
more responsibility in todays world
of Low prices, Low quality and USELESS ness.
