Money Down the Drain

Pros:None
Cons:Over priced for the job it does.
The Bottom Line: Skip the Rainbow and consider some other vacuum. By the time you get this vacuum going you have vacuumed the floor.

I usually say no to any salesman that comes to my door, they never get their foot in. Why then did I let the Rainbow salesman in, it is very simple my daughter was going to sell them so I agreed to the in home demo.

I knew there was a reason I never let salesmen in, I always end up buying.

The demonstration
They have some awesome tricks to show you in your home. They take one of your seat cushions or a pillow and put it into a bag attach the hose and voila, the vacuum sucks all the air out and supposedly all the dust. It is very astonishing to see your big pillows sucked into a little tight heap. Next they clean your floor, no matter how well it has been cleaned before seeing the dirty water in this vacuum is a mighty selling tool. They demonstrate how you can use the vacuum like a deodorizer by putting the various oils they sale into the water.

Buying
I fell for it hook, line, and sinker, for a hefty price of around 1500 with all the attachments included and a bottle of their cleaner for carpets.

Attachments
The power nozzle has its own motor and is supposed to clean under almost anything. It is a long enough attachment that you don't have to do a lot of bending to vacuum.

The Aqua Mate is for shampooing your dirty carpets and has an attachment that hooks right to the sink for water to flow into the attachment where it is mixed with cleaning solution. After you have cleaned the carpets the water is sucked into the vacuum.

The Squeegee is for tile or linoleum floors and scrubs and cleans.

Can be purchased with an extra container that holds more water for bigger jobs.

How it works
Dust is not supposed to fly away in water. You fill the canister with water to the line on it. You then use one of the attachments and connect it to the vacuum. You can see all the dirt and filth going into the canister.

Does it work
I used this vacuum for a year or more before I finally said the he@@ with it. It does not clean any better then a 89.00 vacuum. It is heavy to use and changing the water and cleaning the canister afterward just adds more work. It does not clean any better then the cheaper vacuums like Dirt Devil.

The shampoo attachment does clean fairly well, but is a lot of work on your part. It doesn't just go over the carpet and clean automatically. To clean our living-room carpet took my daughter and myself three hours of scrubbing and sucking the water up, to do a half way decent job. I only used it once and from then on I called a carpet cleaner to do the job.

The Squeegee sounds like a good idea but in reality you can do just as well scrubbing your linoleum with a mop in twice the time it takes you to use this attachment.

Conclusion
The vacuum is heavy, awkward, looks great when they are demonstrating it.
It doesn't take long till you realize that you can do the same jobs more easily with other vacuums and tools. The gunky water has to be emptied after every use and then the canister cleaned. It takes twice as long to use as other vacuums.

Opinion
I would not ever buy this vacuum again, it over priced, over rated, and not easy to use. Of course after talking my husband into spending $1500.00 on it I had to act like I loved it, then after a year I told him how much I hated the vacuum. Bless his heart he went out and bought me a Dirt Devil at Walmarts. I used this until I took up my carpets completely. The motor burned out on the rainbow after my daughter borrowed it. Lasted about 14 months.
