I own a Frigidaire side-by-side model, FRS 26ZRF, which has had constant problems with the ice/water system. Just out of the 1 yr warranty, the defective switch for ice & water stuck, dumping ice and water nonstop. this is a known issue with these models, but Frigidaire did not stand behind their product.

A few months later, the refrigerator began running continuously, due to a defective defrost timer control causing the cooling system to ice up. Once again, Frigidaire did not stand behind their product, although this is another common defect with these models.
A few months later, the ice and water stopped working. The defective control box unit that regulates it stuck open, which caused a freeze-up, cracking the filter housing. This resulted in no water getting to the ice maker, and no water getting to the door dispenser. Once again, Frigidaire did not stand behind their product, although this is another common defect inherent to Frigidaire side-by-side models.
I later learned that Frigidaire engineers had became aware of these defective parts and had redesigned them in response to consumers complaints. The replacement parts are to paid for by the customer, however.
Since it is widely known that these issues are caused by defective parts, why doesn't Frigidaire recall these parts, or at least provide them to their customers when the defective parts break? If you own one of these models, you have either experienced, or will experience these issues. Call FRIGIDAIRE at 1-800-944-9044 or (706)651-7208 to complain. You can also contact firstname.lastname@example.org Maybe if enough people voice their disapproval, Frigidaire will step up to the plate and do the right thing, to at least provide a one-time replacement of these ticking time-bomb parts when the inevitable occurs within a reasonable time frame.
