trishwise's Full Review: Kirby G5 Bagged Upright Vacuum
Let me start by saying what a sucker I am. My husband and I moved into our house 4 years ago and needed a new vacuum since ours was broken in the move, so when the Kirby guy showed up on our doorstep he must have seen the words sucker written on my forehead. I am a major germophobe and was sold when I heard about hepa filter and the fact that it reduced airborne allergens (which was very important to me since I have 2 sons with medical problems). SO he started his little pitch and vacuumed my rug that is located in my living room. I was amazed (make that disgusted) by all the crap that was sucked out of that rug. Then he went on to tell me about all the wonderful attachments and the great features that this vacuum had. I thought, finally, I have this chance to get this great vacuum that can really clean my house the way I want it to be, getting all the junk off my floor that was left behind by the regular vacuum. This wonderful vacuum could get the dust mites out of my rug, couch, mattresses etc. It could reduce the air born allergens. It was self propelled. It had all these awesome attachments. Sounded like a great deal right? Wrong. Stupid me said "yes I will finance my vacuum for an arm and a leg" so begins the "DUH, I am a sucker" part of me getting this wonderful vacuum. Beside the fact that this this cost an ungodly amount of money, it is so heavy you need to be a body builder to lift it up and down the stairs. Then comes the fact that you can only buy the special Kirby bags that cost a ton also. Then there is the fact that while yes, it does a great job cleaning, I HAVE NO CARPET!!! Yes I am a moron. I bought this wonderfully expensive....doorstop. Because that is really all it is used for, to hold open the laundry room door since there is no carpet to really vacuum (other than a small rug in the living room). This was a total waste of my money and I am so sorry that I ever bought it. It is just to heavy for me to carry up and down the steps for one very small rug. Make sure that if you ever go to buy one of these vacuums that you do not make the same mistake that I did...do not get caught up in the hype of what the sales guy says...if you do not have carpet it is really worthless.
