mike2moto's Full Review: Kirby G5 Bagged Upright Vacuum
In 1997, I bought the Hoover "Windtunnel" vacuum, as they advertised it was supposed to be better than any other vacuum. Well, yes it was, for the 6 months I had it. It always clogged, and I always had to get it repaired. I had just got it back from the repair shop, and i started using it. IT SLIPPED THE BELT!!! I was so mad i started yelling at it. All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. It was a salesman offering me a free shampoo. my carpets were in horrible shape so i gladly let him do his thing. I found out that it was a sales pitch to buy a Kirby G5. I didn't get mad, or kick them out because I did need a new vacuum. I let them do their sales pitch. They did shampoo my carpet, and it did a great job at it. They offered it to me for $2000. I went crazy. Then the man called his "Boss", and they said they would give it to me for $900. I reluctantly signed the contract, but I was just happy they took that old Windtunnel with them.
About 10 years later, it is still going strong. Everything is easy to use, and the tech-drive makes it effortless to push. I had it serviced once because it clogged, and the dirt backed up into the fan. It made a horrible sound. I replaced the fan blade, and the hose in the bag. It was about $100 but worth it. The shampooer changed my mind about getting new carpet. With the Kirby G5, I can shampoo, dust, massage, and even blow the leaves.
I would never regret this purchase. BTW, Kirby backs up their product. They have given me help when I needed it.
If you are looking for an all-in-one, and I mean ALL-in-one vacuum cleaner, Kirby is the way to go!!
I did forget to mesion that the vacuum has a recuild plan. So in 20 years, I can send it in, and have it rebuilt for a small fee. It will last me another 20 years or longer. I want this to be my lifetime vacuum cleaner.
