| wil31's Full Review: Panasonic MC-4850 Bagged Canister Vacuum |
I'd never bought a vacuum cleaner in my life. My mother gave me one as a present when I got my first apartment, and it lasted me for over 10 years. I guess I didn't exactly overwork it in those early years. But it finally wore out and it was time to buy a new one.
How hard could it be, right? Vacuum cleaners are pretty much all the same, right? Well, maybe not, or they wouldn't range in price from $50 to $1500. It was time to do a little research.
I read lots of Epinions. I read Consumer Reports. I even went and test-drove a few. And in the end, I decided on the Panasonic MC-4850.
At a little over 11 pounds, its easy to carry around. Our townhouse has three stories, so there's lots of stairs. It does stairs without a problem. Nice long cord, too.
Not too loud, so the neighbors aren't complaining if I decide to vacuum the dining room at midnight.
And its got some really great attachments. Cool little things for getting in nooks and crannies. Special tools for furniture. And even better, they store inside a little compartment right on the canister. The old vacuum cleaner had a detachable caddy sort of a thing that held the attachments. The vacuum cleaner lasted over ten years, but I haven't seen an attachment in over eight years. The coolest attachment in the world is useless if its not there when you need it, right?
I'm sure I could've gotten a better vacuum cleaner if I'd spent $500-600, but around $100, this one does the job just fine.
The only negative thing I can say about this machine is the fact that it uses those little paper bags. I got confused when picking it out. I made a little chart, and for some reason, I'd ticked that it was bagless. I like the bagless cleaners.
So far the bag hasn't been a hassle.
If you're looking for a low-cost vacuum cleaner that's good value for money, then this one is an excellent choice.
