Through my long years of experience with washing clothes I must say how lucky we are today to have these wonderful modern conveniences. I bless that great machine every day when I think of how it use to be. I will get to that later, after I give you the particulars of my AMANA #8303, this was as close as I could come to the one listed on epinions. Well close counts I suppose when it comes to writing reviews. Will move it later if necessary.

CHOOSING A DEALER
My AMANA was purchased four years ago, when the machine that was here when we purchased our condo was making a lot of noise. I called our trusted dealer known as Drees Appliances and they sent a repairman. It was discovered that the motor was leaking and he informed me what the costs would be to repair it. I decided it was time for a new one. We have used this Appliances Store for all our work and trusted their honesty. I think this is an important step when dealing with appliances, choose someone who will be there for you if repairs are needed.
When I went to the Drees Appliances Store the salesman first asked me how often I would be using the washer. After years of doing the wash for a big family we are now down to just my husband and I. He then showed me the washers that would be sufficient for the two of us. He explained that some of the machines are made for daily use and if I did not need that these machines would give us good service. I chose the AMANA #8303 and picked out the Almond color. The AMANA is made in Amana, Iowa and are known for their manufactured products. I wrote a review on the AMANA COLONIES and will add the code for that at the end of my review.

GETTING CLOTHES CLEAN
After using this machine for the past four years, I can attest to itís good service. It will carry a large load with ease, but I make sure not to over load. I use liquid soap and also use a spot remover separate before placing into the machine. I seldom use bleach now, since the days of washing football practice clothes. These types of clothes I had to soak in soapy bleach water to get them clean. I have had plenty of experience in cleaning clothes and am now relaxed in my washing duties with just my husband and myself. l still get plenty of stains on myself as my husband says I try to do too many things at once and get careless. Well that is just me hard to change at this late date. LOL! This is a quite running machine it will warn you if clothes are not evenly distributed. It makes that thumping noise in the spin cycle, so just re-distribute your clothes.
Since our area has very hard water, it is recommended to get a soft water service, this will also save on your washing machine. The manual with this machine has many suggestions for laundry tips, washing temperature guide plus how to use the fabric softener and bleach dispenser. They also included a stain removal guide and how to treat them. AMANA has factory service centers in most areas with a telephone number to call if you need service 1-800-628-5782. They recommend using authorized service personnel on all their products. A warranty is available on Amana washing products.
HOW IT WAS BACK THEN
After relating all the wonderful features of this machine it takes me back to my youth. The first thing I can remember of my Mother doing the laundry for our large family is when I was involved. In a large family everyone had jobs to do, mine at that time was to
operate the washing machine. This machine was a manual large half circle tub with a wooden pole attached to it. When you swung this pole back and forth, it tumbled the soapy water and clothes inside. Every Monday was wash-day and during the summer it was my job to run this machine for 15 minutes for each tub of wash.
Washing clothes was always done in our basement, so I was stuck there most of the morning until all the clothes were washed. The process to wring the water out of these clothes was with a hand-cranked wringer. It had two rubber rollers placed one over the other on a rack attached to the washing machine. You placed part of the clothes you wanted to wring next to these rollers and then cranked them through into the rinse water. The wringer would swing so you could wring out the rinsed clothes into the basket.
Wash-day was a family operation for us girls as we all had our chores to do that is why I remember this machine and how it operated. I also remember our first electric machine and we thought we really had it made. A least now I was relieved of those days of swinging that old machine. One thing that was a tragedy with the new electric models, the wringer rollers were electric as well. When some of the children were helping put the clothes to the wringer it caught the clothes but also caught the fingers as well. I remember seeing one girlís arm, when she got it caught in a wringer and it bruised her arm all the way up to her elbow before they turn off the machine. We all had to learn how to treat these new progressive items with care.
TIME MARCHES ON
Through out all the years we have had many washing machines, I have also had to use a laundry mat at times when our machines where being repaired. While we are in Texas I use a laundry mat during the time we are there. I just have to use it for our personal clothes as our maid service takes care of the large items. We all must count our blessings for all the new improvements that have been made in how we clean our clothes. Gone are the days of beating them with rocks at waters edge to hand swinging each load in the old machine. EVERY TIME YOU GRADUATE FROM ONE EXPERIENCE TO ANOTHER PROGRESS IS BEING MADE!!
