| justbetruthful's Full Review: Equator EZ 3600 CEE Front Load All-in-One Washer /... |
This machine is a throwaway. All the talk about 'green' is crock because thousands of these are taking up space in landfills and that's the real crime.
Before I get into it, I'd like to relay some other info missed from other reviews.
This machine IS made in Italy as it says on the label. But it is sold under many different names. Equator simply imports them to America and resells them. They are not the manufacturer.
First, about a month after I got the machine it quit drying. I contacted equator and after about six weeks of garbage they finally agreed to fix it after I HAD TO DIAGNOSE IT! They agreed to send the parts for me to repair. I waited and didn't get anything in the mail so I called back and was told they never sent them because they had a question but for some reason they were too stupid to call and ask it! The part that was broken was a simple thermostat and I had to deal with a damn engineer just to get the thing figured out because the first two techs I talked to couldn't find the thermostat on the machine - even though they had a parts blow up that I downloaded off their website. Bottom line, the part was worth five dollars. Tech support is in India.
That's not the worst of it. I've had it for 2.5 years now and have had some wacky problems with it that I'd like to attribute to gremlins. The list is very long and some of it is so complex I'm not going to describe it here for you but instead I'll list some of the 'single symptom' problems.
- the belt is slipping thanks to the smooth surface pulley on the drum
- the power plug to the motor doesn't have a retaining clip and has come out of the socket over time
- the dryer motor clogs frequently and the machine must be disassembled to clean
- the dryer shaft rusted so bad that the thing looks like cave rocks because of the way the dryer motor spins.
- thanks to the rust, it deposits small chunks in the tub
- the face of the machine is rusted. Bad design has the exhaust from the dryer coming out the detergent drawer and running to the perimeter where it rusts the finish
- the screws that hold the water spout to the dispenser drawer also rusted making them impossible to remove
- the motor randomly chooses not to spin the tub
- the timer randomly spins around and doesn't stop without intervention
- the dryer WON'T STOP DRYING without intervention!!!! Fire hazard!!!
- despite the many settings on the water temp dial there are only two that work. Hot and cold. And tonight, hot stopped working.
- the pump is leaking
In short, this thing is junk. I've spent the last two years trying to squeeze life out of it using every trick I know but it has come to the end of its short life.
The only bonus is that this thing saved us from coin-op laundry and probably paid for itself. The bad thing is that it has sent us BACK TO the coin op laundry every time it quits. By my count that's a total of about 8 weeks in two years.
I hope I helped someone make a better choice....please keep another one of these things out of the landfill and put an end to Equator's "green" marketing.
