| jack427's Full Review: Equator EZ 3600 CEE Front Load All-in-One Washer /... |
I have an Equator EZ3600 combo washer/dryer which I bought in 3/2001 and on 11/9/01 I started having problems with it - the spinning part of the wash cycle no longer works.
Since the warranty is one year I can still (supposedly) get it repaired. I have contacted and left a message with The Equator Company, but I am unhappy considering a Maytag washing machine would have a 5-10 year warranty and the Maytag repair center is 5 miles away as compared to the Equator having only a 1 year warranty and the company is based in another state (no local repair center??). I am uncomfortable with the prospects for repair, let alone having to miss work to meet them if they only come on the weekday.
It had performed very well until now.
Unlike people in other posts, I never used the dryer portion of the machine, I would simply hang my clothes on a rack I put on the wall to dry. That way I could continue to wash clothes rather than wait for the machine 90 minutes to do the drying itself.
By the way, the machine does vibrate a lot, and with the optional coasters, vibrates way too much - I had to remove the coasters. Also, leveling the machine is critical to minimizing vibrations, and with the coasters, the machine moves around due to the vibrations, becoming less level in my case. This fact makes the coasters a poor design for this machine, truly a poor design.
Please also note my unit is labeled "Made in Italy." I have had problems when I owned an Italian sports car, I hope this is not a repetition of poor workmanship from this country.
So right now the message is mixed. The problem with trying to get a portable washing machine is that you need 110 volt for an apartment, and not all web sites clearly show if their products are 110 volt, or if they allow easy hookup to the faucet. So if anyone knows of a more reliable portable washing machine, front loader, 110 volt, with easy hook-up to the faucet, I would appreciate knowing.
