| Dearmad's Full Review: Equator EZ 3600 CEE Front Load All-in-One Washer /... |
There are two real drawback to this washer/dryer, and I'll start with those: It has a small capacity and so will take you some time to wash clothes for a family of three, and it takes quite a while to dry.
But the advantages were numerous enough for my situation to make this the best choice for me.
Size:
It is small but for it's size it has a large capacity. I can *just* keep up with three people. If it were two, it would be no problem.
Size again:
Yeah, because you don't need a dryer, it's built in. And it is ventless, so you only need the water intake. This was perfect for my situation as the water intake where I live has no matching air flow thingy- that is located in the second bedroom, and I think my daughter is much happier with her room having some privacy.
Features:
For it's diminutive size, it has a lot of wash cycles available, and has yet to ruin anything I've put into it. It goes through a longer cycle than usual (probably due to the nature of it being a front-loader) but things come out very clean.
The dryer:
This is a bit of a problem with the washer as it takes about 90 minutes(!) to dry a load. The problem is in the ventless design, as it must depend upon condensation and a lot of heat. I have found a way to speed things up by stopping it and opening the door after 45 minutes and letting things breath, then finishing up with another 45 minute dry cycle. Seems to work. If you let it dry and don't open the door at all after it is "done" you may find things wet again becuase all the moisture has had nowhere to go that is fast enough so it goes back into the drum.
Because of my unique situation this thing was perfect for me, but I can't recommend it over a combination unit (if you have the space and hook-ups) or two seperate units. Things go much faster then.
Odd note...
it doesn't read so in my review, BUT: this machine is actually *not* an energy waster. I got a significant tax credit for purchasing it because it is energy efficient. It uses tiny amounts of water and a modest amount of electricity, and about a third as much soap as anything else I've ever used. It just takes some attending on my part to get things right.
