| karenortwein's Full Review: Frigidaire FWS747RF Washer |
I purchased this washer because it was cheap and I had to have one. The washer began to make a shrill whining noise after about 8 months when it went into spin cycle. It has gotten louder and louder since. The place I purchased it from --Lowes Home Improvement-- said all the Frigidaire washers did that and they would not allow warranty work. Hmmmmmmm......well, anyway....so it stills whines it's little heart out. It is located on an enclosed back porch so the noise doesn't send me packing or anything, but I worry that it is going to fail eventually and it is still a young washer (3 years).
As far as washing clothes, it does an adequate job--not great. The spin cycle begins before the water is half drained and it doesn't remove the wash during the spin like my former washers did (Kenmore & my grandpa's used Whirlpool). Both of those washers lasted a good 16 years each. I do not see the same for this one.
As far as control knobs--the knob which controls the settings for the wash and the starter tends to push back "in" on it's own and stop the washer. I have to check on it often to make sure it is still running. The other knobs controlling water level and temperature seem to work ok.
