Pros: Nice to not have the center post, but at cost.
Cons: Final rinse does not get soap residue and lint removed.
The Bottom Line: I recommend you don't buy one. Read all the reviews and you get a good picture. The technology is not perfected; be ready for problems. It's not worth the money.

Complaints on Calypso washer
January 2004 -I have had my machine two months and I have already called the technician. I was sold on this machine by the advertisements and the salesman; I sure wish I had read consumer reports. If you have gotten this far, you are ahead of the game. Do not buy the calypso, mine is going back, I am not waiting for the breakdowns and more visits from a technicians. Oh, in case you were wondering, the dryer is fine.
The first problem I showed the technician got the response that my problems are typical. There is no filter for the water so the clothes do the filtering as they lie on the bottom and get bounced around. Junk like lint, human hair (I have long hair), animal hair from the cat, and grit get stuck in wrinkles of the clothes. Also I end up having to remove this same kind of junk from the top lip of the tub where the water comes in and the junk gets stuck on a seal. Yuck, heaven for bid if you miss getting a tissue out of a pocket. How do they think clothes can be clean without a filter to catch the junk? Make sure any machine you buy has a self-cleaning filter.
My second issue that brought out the technician was the dry soap dispenser. I put in the soap and down it flows. After the cycle, I have dry soap particles all around outside the dispenser, as if I missed on pouring it in. The technician said he did not know what caused it and just cleaned it up.
The third problem is the clothes are not clean! They are stiff after drying because of soap residue. I dont use fabric softener because they themselves are a residue. I want clean clothes not sweet smelling ones. So to resolve this I have been using vinegar in the rinse dispenser and running a second rinse. There goes the water saving.
In general, the machine takes too long. A normal wash cycle with no extra options selected is 44 minutes. "Whitest whites" with an extra rinse and spin added is over 70 minutes!
So the technician does a write up saying I'm not happy with the machine's performance. That is true.
