| bmcnichol's Full Review: Sunbeam Grill Series 350 |
First thing that comes to mind when I think of summer is grilling outside. Well it doesn’t have to be summer for me to be outside cooking on my Sunbeam 350 Grill. You can find me standing on the patio cooking on sunny days, rainy days and even occasionally snowy days. Nothing tastes better then a Porterhouse Steak done on the grill in the middle of a snowstorm to remind you that summer isn’t too far off.
We received our Sunbeam 350 Grill as a housewarming present from Hubby’s parents and grandparents. I would rather cook on a grill then anywhere and I know Hubby feels the same because that is the ONLY place he will cook a meal. During the hot days of summer, I use my Sunbeam 350 Grill more then I do my stove.
Before cooking for the first time the grill needed to be assembled. Hubby did this and it didn’t take very long to do. I am assuming that it wasn’t very hard.
My Sunbeam Grill has 395 square inches of primary cooking space and 870 square inches total in cooking area. So what does that mean? There is a lot of cooking space for my family of four. You can cook almost anything on this grill. Last Thanksgiving I experimented and cooked my turkey on the grill.
The Sunbeam Grill has two racks inside for cooking of a variety of foods at once. It also has a fast-heating sideburner that I use for anything from corn on the cob to macaroni and cheese. The side burner is perfect for side dishes.
The Sunbeam 350 has 40,000 BTUs and a tented porcelain heat burner system. It has dual controls and a spark ignition.
Ready to cook. Turn the gas on, turn one of the dual controls to high and hit the red push button ignition and off she goes. Well most times. This is one problem we have had with our Grill, it isn’t as easy to light as it should be. There are times where I have to use a lighter to get the grill going. Hubby says the lava rocks need to be in just the right place for the grill to flare up. Not sure if he knows what he is talking about or not. I find it easier to get a lighter and light it up. Hubby did replace the ignition switch once and it still is flaky.
Once the grill is lit, turn the other control on and set the temperature on both. Ready to make some steaks?
The Sunbeam 350 Grill has a honey wood sidetable and front shelf. The wood has started to crack on the sidetable and on the handle that is attached to the lid. Hubby said these can be replaced but until they break, I don’t think we will replace them. Also included with the Grill is a condiment basket that we normally use for utensils instead.
The Grill has two wheels to make moving of the grill easier. We recently built a new deck and I was glad it had those wheels on it. Don’t think I would have wanted to lift the grill.
Cleaning your grill is easy, just ask hubby! He has a grill brush that he uses before and after cooking. He also replaces the rocks twice a year. Not sure if they really need to be changed that often, but that is the way HE does it.
I think the Sunbeam Grill is very sturdy and has held up well over time.
I have been pleased with our Sunbeam 350 Grill. I just wish the igniter would work each and every time. This is a minor annoyance but an annoyance just the same.
If you are looking for a gas grill with a side burner, I would do a bit more research. Even though the Sunbeam 350 Grill has many pluses and good things about it, I think there may be some better models out there. When the day comes to replace our Grill, I will look around before buying another Sunbeam. Not meaning that the Sunbeam is a bad grill, it’s not that at all. I just think there may be other grills out there that offer more.
