| my$.02's Full Review: Cuisinart DFP-11 Deluxe 11 Cups Food Processor |
I LOVE my Cuisinart. I've had it for about 3 years now. For me, it's a must have - I couldn't make many of my recipes without it.
The Good:
1) It has handled every chopping, mixing, pureeing, grating, and slicing project I have given it with ease. I know to appreciate this because I used to own a Hamilton Beach processor which failed me several times. The Cuisinart generally turns out regular consistencies, so everything is chopped the same size, or mixed together well (no chunks that escape the blades).
2) Can't get any easier to operate - it has only two buttons.
3) Safe - it won't turn on until the lid and blade are locked into place properly (no wild splashes on the countertops or ceilings). It doesn't leak elsewhere either unless you really stuff it to the gills.
4) Easy to clean - just dump all the parts in the dishwasher and wipe down the machine that sits on the countertop.
5) It's a heavy, solid machine. This is what makes it able to handle chopping hard veggies, cold chocolate, etc.
The Bad:
1) The feed tube is kind of a silly contraption that can be hard to clean. I would prefer a more simple style like the original Cuisinart version or the KitchenAid feed tube.
2) This 11cup is kind of an in between size. I usually double recipes and the 11 Cup bowl is often barely able to handle the volume. And when the bowl gets full to the top, and the blade sits near the bottom of the bowl, I often struggle to get the stuff on the top to mix with the stuff on the bottom. Also the 11 Cup bowl is just too big for minor projects like mincing a small amount of herbs. If I were buying again, I'd probably go for the 14 Cup version and supplement with a mini-chopper - or I might take a more serious look at the KitchenAid model that allows you to put a smaller bowl into the larger bowl.
3) It's a heavy, solid machine. You must make room for it on your counter because it is not something that you can pull in and out of a cupboard with ease.
