Odd... (Reply to this comment)
by scmrak
I made more or less the same move a couple of years ago, but in the opposite direction (are you going to change your name to astnjim now? (; )
I did the numbers and ended up calculating that U-Pack would cost me significantly more than renting a truck (even with ancillary expenses figured in). Of course, we had a heckuva lot of stuff - a 26-foot truck, a 25-foot truck, an eighteen-foot trailer, a twelve-foot trailer, and two pickups. Ended up hiring a team who loaded the 26-footer and big trailer and then drove it to Illinois, all for about $3800 (that doesn't include the other truck or our personal travel expenses). After all, we were going to spend a night or two in motels, anyway.
Could be the sheer volume of our crap that made it more economical to use U-Haul. Well, actually, Penske.
Cheers, and enjoy Austin. May I suggest that you visit Esther's Follies at your first opportunity?

Hi - could you split this up into a few paragraphs? It would make it easier on the eyes.
