Well just like the review before me I was also very disappointed with Bekins and their temps. The move was ridiculous to say the lease. I don't even know where to begin. But perhaps the previous reviewers items.
I was moving from Denver, Colorado to Detroit, MI and from the very get go the move was scarey. It was a windy day on the day I left but these horrific temps and driver were a waste. It took 4 and a half hours for them to load up my 1 and 1/2 bedroom apartment. I really did not have enough items to warrant that long. They left all my items outside and let them continue to be blown over by the wind. Finally my fiance asked if they could quit bringing stuff out and leaving it in the parking lot while they load up the truck because everything was blowing all over. Duh!
Also that day I told my fiance I was going to get lunch and the driver asked if I could pick him and his helpers up some lunch. Dumb me never got the money up front so I never got reimbursed. Granted it was only $10 but they should have taken care of lunch before they got there. I mean they were 2 hours late. Supposedly they got lost. I am sorry "truck driver", haven't you heard of MAPQUEST? At the least his dispatch should have pointed him in the right direction. Oh but it gets better.
So the movers packed me on friday and the driver said he should be to me by Thursday. The office calls and tells me friday, then monday, then Tuesday. Can you get a more accurate estimated time of arrival? So Tuesday finally arrives and the driver calls my fiance to tell him he is lost and can he come pick him up. My fiance tells him to call me since he was at work. Can I come pick you up? What the heck is that? He was like 10 miles away from my home. By the way I am also new to the area so I had to get out detroit map and find my way to him. He said it was going to be to difficult for him to find my house. At this point I am irate. How can you be a truck driver and not know where you are going? This is ridiculous! I reluctantly go find him and have his big wheeler follow me. How unprofessional is that?
It continues to get better. We get to my house and the driver has no help. His help was suppose to be showing up. I have to find a phone book and call a temp agency for him. Needless to say with his southern drawl that the person on the other end could not understand him, so I had to order his temp workers. In the mean time while we are waiting on the workers to show up the driver is trying to engage me in chit chat about my fiance and how much money he makes as well as womens "booties". Totally inappropriate! So I went inside my house to wait. An hour and a half later the temps show up. Thank goodness they were quick and did a good job, way better than the ones who loaded the truck. Again it gets better.....
So loading is almost done and they did not put any of my furniture back together like they were suppose to, but I just wanted to get this guy out of here. They try to give me this old dirty mountain bike which is apparently not mine. I say that is not my bike, my bike is blue and silver. The driver says,"What-that not your bike? Oh, no! I bet that damn helper stole your bike and put his nasty bike back on this truck and took yours." Okay can you imagine what I am thinking at this point? Needless to say no onw stole it, come to find out but he had shipped it to New Mexico or something thinking it was someone elses. What the heck? It had my correct tag on it. No sense at all with these people.
Last but not least, I still have someones belongings in my house that I got by mistake. Told Bekins a million times that I have people's belongings and they still have not sent someone to pick the items up. Customer service has been horrific as well. No one ever calls you back. I have to suitcases of someone's stuff perhaps it was the previous reviewer. Anyway I moved from Colorado on 10/29/04 if that lines up with anyone elses move, maybe I have your stuff.
