Pros: Car arrived 2 weeks ahead of schedule, clean car, good service, accurate order tracking
Cons: A little more expensive, but worth the extra bucks...read my review.
The Bottom Line: Wondering whether to go with DAS? Don't try to save yourself a few dollars and go with a cheaper carrier, it's not worth the money you save.

| qooldude's Full Review: Dependable Auto Shippers |
Very few things in life surprise me anymore, so when my expectations are exceeded, I rush here to praise it. Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) is one of them.
I've used a few auto shippers before buying my cars on eBay and having them shipped from afar. I can relate to many of the reviews here; car was late, car was damaged, car arrived filthy, etc. In one case, my car didn't arrive until 5 weeks after the pickup date and it was abandoned for 2 weeks in Texas.
Well, I didn't experience any of those things with DAS. I purchased my car from a dealer in NY and I live in CA. I went online to obtain a few quotes from various shippers. DAS is a little more expensive since they use enclosed transport. After I received my quote, I called them and placed my order. Although, I asked them to pick it up on Monday they didn't actually pick it up until Thursday. Their online tracking estimated a delivery date of 3 weeks later. So I would check back in a few days and was pleased to see that my car was indeed picked up at the scheduled date. Checking back a few more days later and it was in Utah. Then I checked back last night and it was in Reno, NV only 2 hours away. I checked this morning and it had arrived.
So they picked it up on Thursday in NY and it arrived the following Tuesday in CA. That's just five days and well over 2 weeks ahead of schedule!
I called the terminal, since I didn't use door-to-door service and they said it arrived and I went to take delivery of my car. I thoroughly checked my car for damage, especially the under carriage and wheels and it was spotless, no bugs, dirt, etc.
Here are some suggestions if you're going to book your auto transport:
- Keep your expectations low, this is probably the best advice
- If possible, book terminal-to-terminal to save a few dollars
- Do not get their insurance coverage for damage, which will cost a few extra hundred dollars
- Keep checking online for the status
I know the feeling of anxiety of taking delivery of your car especially when you need it. In my case, when I just paid nearly $20K for a BMW, so I want it right away. There's nothing worse than waiting for your car to arrive and the shipping company either: 1. doesn't know where your car is or 2. keeps giving you excuses about why it's late.
Be aware of many companies that take a deposit and then ask for the balance upon delivery. That means they sub-contract a towing service to pick up your car at THEIR convenience. That's how my car was neglected in TX and arrived late 5 weeks later.
Pay the extra few dollars and save yourself a lot of trouble and go with DAS.
