Pros: Great online quoting system. Great Tracking system.
Cons: Couldn't find one.
The Bottom Line: With the years of experience behind them and the great interactive website ... it gave something to grasp onto while out of touch with the actual vehicle.

| mgran's Full Review: Dependable Auto Shippers |
Attempting to ship a vehicle from Washington to Virginia, I surely had to do my research. The first online quote I received was from DAS. Initial reaction was expensive, yet I was asking West Coast to East Coast, in an enclosed carrier, and top loaded. With their quote in hand, I compared all others. Because I had also put my quote information on a web site that allows multiple shippers to respond, I waited over a week so I could talk to several representatives and make a decision.
I admit there were a lot of cheaper quotes, and two higher. Out of 10 total.
Yet there was one overlying fact from almost all the quotes I couldn't understand ... Why does it take 7 to 10 days just to pick up the vehicle? (I understood the 10-14 days to go across country) Anyway I finally asked, and what a company (not DAS) told me was strange ... they didn't actually do the shipping themselves. After a signed quote, they then advertise the vehicle on the internet and allow truckers to bid. Generally a trucker already in the pick up vacinity would get a contract, and a date is set for pick up. Walla. I asked the next quoter, same thing. Now I admit I didn't ask all the quoters, so I don't know if everyone worked this way, yet they all said the same 7-10 days just for pick up.
Late on a Monday night I called the DAS phone number. First question out of my mouth after giving my quote # ... "when would the vehicle be picked up?" He said he could pick it up Wednesday, that Wednesday. Of course he said 10-14 days for delivery. With that and knowing they have the online tracking system, I said lets do it. Get this, after I said that, he had said that since the time my quote was given their price had actually gone up $100, and that my invoice would show the extra $100, although he would be sure to follow up and make sure my original figure would be my final charge. It was done.
In a nutshell, using the online tracking system we saw the vehicle was picked up Wednesday, and left the West Coast Terminal the next day. My wife and I had fun tracking it across the country. At one point we got worried because the truck had just got into Indiana when the remnants of the hurricane were headed that way. Now I don't know if the truck was actually scheduled to do so, yet the truck went back to Illinois, then south through Kentucky to get to Virginia, in essence going around and behind the storm. (again though there could have been another stop on the round about route) Even with this detour, the vehicle arrived at the destination in 7 days.
When I picked up the vehicle I noticed it had water streak marks like it was cleaned, at first I thought the internal carrier kept it that way from the dealership. Yet when I looked at the PreInspection Checklist I noticed that both the truck driver and the car dealership signed the note saying the vehicle was 'very dirty' when picked up. I don't remember anything in the contract saying the vehicle was to be cleaned, how about that for service?
50years in business ... glad I chose DAS.
