I prepared myself for a two year stay in Europe and used their truck to drive my stuff to the cargo terminal the day before my flight.
I returned the truck in good order and paid in cash because I canceled my US credit card same day. Their employees were aware of this situation in full, we joked about my future overseas.
After two years I returned to the US to find:
They claimed the truck was not filled with gas (which could be proven wrong with my invoice from the gas station across their place) and charged $65 to the canceled US-Credit Card, a claim that was naturally not honored - the account was closed and they knew it.
They never sent me an email about the situation, never tried to contact me, but sold $65 to a collection company and ruined my credit score.
Although I even paid the wrongful charge to the collection company after my return, my credit score is still ruined and even now they refuse to repair the damage they - or their employee who filled his car on my expense - produced.
I am having extreme difficulties to open a bank account and to reopen my credit cards, not to mention a possible mortgage.
