cabachon's Full Review: Hotpoint-Ariston RB757 Electric Range
For excellent value in an electric range, you can't beat a Hotpoint. GE's value-priced brand. Look past the plain-vanilla design and you'll find that the Hotpoint 30" Free-Standing Self-Cleaning Electric Range is dependable and has an outstandingly low repair record. It has four plug-in coil Calrod cooktop elements, a self-cleaning oven and a digital timer.
The cooktop has four coil elements. Two 8-inch and two 6-inch. The infinite heat settings rival the control of cooking with gas. You can unplug the Calrod heating elements and remove the chrome drip bowls to wash them in the sink or the dishwasher. The dual support rods will hold up the cooktop, leaving both your hands free to wipe out the subtop.
The oven features electronic controls for delay baking, automatically shutting off and automatically cleaning. There's even a preheat signal to tell you when the oven is ready. To operate the self-cleaning oven, press a button and turn a dial. The oven door locks automatically to start the self-cleaning cycle, and a cool-down time display will let you know when it's finished.
