Prepoia's Full Review: Hotpoint-Ariston RB757 Electric Range
After much shopping and comparing, I decided that I would buy the most expensive of an overall less expensive brand. I looked at many of the expensive well-known brands but decided the best value was to buy the best of this maker. I made sure that the Hotpoint had features that I wanted: a self-cleaning oven; lift-up burner top for easy cleaning; one piece drip pans for easy removal; a light in the oven; a built-in timer; and this model has them all. My last stove lasted 18 years and so I wanted to make sure that this would have the things I knew to be important and it does. Only this range is even better and easier to use than my old one.
This range is a dream to keep clean! The drip bowls under the burners are easily removed and the material they are made of washes easily with soap, water, and a mesh-type scrubber. Plug in...plug out! I also like that it has two big burners and two small ones. Many of the ranges (no matter what the price) only had one large burner. I can flip up the top with little effort and it stays up while I wash (again with just soap and water) underneath. There is never a burning smell from spill overs because you can clean get to them to clean them up.
The only problem I've had is a burnt out oven light and they are easy to find (any hardware store) and easy to replace. Screw in...screw out! The glass door is a great feature too. I like being able to see into the oven while baking. The only down side here is that the glass is not easy to clean. I intend to keep looking for a cleaner that does a good job but haven't yet found one.
I also wish that manufacturers would develop a broiling cycle that would allow me to keep the door closed during broiling. This one, like my old one, requires the door to be open a little bit, and it's just enough to set off my fire detector occasionally. Also the broil control only has one setting: broil. There is no temperature control to the broil element. I looked for this feature when comparison shopping and didn't find any that operated any differently as far as the door went; and only a few offered temperature control knobs for the broiler. But...the drawer at the bottom of the range is really roomy. It's much larger and I can store a lot more in it than I did my previous range.
The true test of this range is the self-cleaning oven. My last stove had one but it was hard to operate. Every time I cleaned it, I had to find the directions and follow them exactly or it wouldn't work properly. Sometimes I would have to call the manufacturer's help number to have them talk me through a cycle so that I could start it over. It was hard to do and I never was sure that it had programmed properly. This one, however, has easy directions right on the stove itself and within seconds it is set and cleaning itself.
I love this oven!!!! I would, and I have, recommended this model to friends. I have no doubt that you will love this appliance.
