About the ceramic cooktop:
Mine cracked during installation. The glass cooktops are also subject to breakage if you drop a pan, use the wrong type of pan, let a pan boil dry, or leave the burner going with no pan on it.
The cooktops require special cleaning fluids, wiping with a damp cloth doesn't not remove streaks. They also scratch easily.
You cannot use many popular brands of cookware on the glass. I have some expensive Bendes cookware with tiny coils on the bottom - the ridges are much less than those on an old phonograph record. Because of the ridges, Jenn Air says these are unsuitable for use on the cooktop.
It is easy to burn yourself because you cannot tell if the heating elements are hot.
About the oven:
I cannot assess the oven properly, because the touch pad controls on mine don't work. Neither the installer nor Jenn Air customer service could get the oven controls to work.
About Jenn Air/Maytag customer service (Jenn Air is a Maytag line):
I've spoken to these people so many times in the last few weeks. They are poorly trained and unable to answer most questions. Basically, they go to the manual that ships with the product, and they usually know less about the product than you. If you get a slow reader, plan on waiting a long time. The customer care people may have never seen nor operated the unit. Sometimes, they said they did not have the answer to my question, but I could get the answer from the website, which was offline (of course). Speaking of the website, the javascript tends to breakdown and cause display problems both using Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
It is basically inadequate customer care.
Note: The price shown below does not include several hundred dollars of installation charges.
