I am a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher in a middle school, teaching 7th and 8th graders. Therefore, I knew I needed a serger that was simple to thread and operate. The Baby Lock Imagine is exactly that! The unit is self-threading; it couldn't be any easier. And, with no tension control knobs/dials, there is absolutely no possibility of the machine not operating correctly. I, personally, own a Bernina Bernette 004D. In comparing the two pieces of equipment, the Baby Lock Imagine is much more user friendly. And again, without tension control knobs/dials, you don't have to worry about someone adjusting the dials for you. The Baby Lock Imagine is extremely easy to use. The only drawback of this serger, as with most sergers, is that there is only a small mark indicating seam widths on the machine. When my 7th and 8th grade students are serging, they have an extremely difficult time maintaining a straight, 5/8" seam.
